Chuma Memela is an AI advocate, speaker, and techpreneur passionate about making artificial intelligence accessible to everyday people and businesses. He is the founder and Managing Director of Genie-yus AI, a company that helps SMEs and entrepreneurs adopt AI-driven solutions, and the co-founder and CEO of Gambuu, a global expert marketplace for advisory service providers.
His academic journey reflects determination and excellence. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Information Systems, earning 23 distinctions, before completing his honours degree as the top student in Information Systems. He is currently pursuing a Master of Commerce in Information Systems, focusing on FinTech solutions for financial inclusion among township enterprises.
Chuma’s achievements include ranking as the top performer in the Eastern Cape and third nationally in the EBL Digital Skills Programme, earning five awards including Most Dedicated Student. Beyond academia, he has established himself as a sought-after speaker, having delivered more than 20 talks at conferences, universities, and media platforms such as TruFM, Keith Ngesi Radio, and Mdantsane FM.
In addition to his ventures, he serves as the Chief Partnerships Officer and Executive Board Member at Dare Restoring Worth NPC, and as the Community of Practice Lead for Student Entrepreneurship at the University of Fort Hare, supporting student-led ventures and innovation.
